Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream 28 g is a concentrated moisturising skin barrier cream designed to protect at-risk, intact or irritated skin from moisture, bodily fluids and everyday irritants while also helping to condition dry or vulnerable skin. It is commonly used where ongoing exposure to wetness may contribute to skin breakdown or moisture-associated skin damage, including incontinence-related skin damage.

This cream forms a thin, breathable and durable protective film over the skin. The barrier is wash-resistant and intended to remain effective through repeated cleansing, helping reduce the need for frequent reapplication. Its concentrated formula means a small amount spreads effectively, and when applied correctly it leaves a non-greasy, vanishing finish rather than a heavy residue.

Another practical feature is its adhesive-friendly design, which allows tapes and dressings to adhere to the skin. It is also formulated not to readily transfer or clog continence pads.

Formula and Composition

Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is commonly described as using dimethicone with acrylate polymer or terpolymer technology. Commonly listed ingredients include water, diisooctyl adipate, acrylate terpolymer, coconut oil, PPG-15 stearyl ether, glycerin, isopropyl palmitate, mineral oil, trimethylsiloxysilicate, paraffin, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, benzoic acid, dehydroacetic acid and magnesium sulfate.

It is fragrance-free, pH-balanced and hypoallergenic, and is commonly described as CHG-compatible and latex-free.

Directions for Use

Apply sparingly to clean, dry skin and rub in until the cream is absorbed and no longer visible. If the skin feels oily after application, too much has been used. Reapply as needed or according to clinical guidance.

Precautions

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not use if sensitivity to any ingredient is known, or on infected skin. Seek medical advice if irritation worsens or persists.
