Description
Fortini Multi Fibre is a nutritionally complete, ready-to-drink paediatric feed formulated for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition and growth failure in children. It is a Food for Special Medical Purposes and must be used under medical supervision. Designed for children from 1 year of age and over 8 kg, it can be used either to supplement the diet or, for children aged 1 to 6 years or weighing 8 to 20 kg, as a sole source of nutrition. This product is for enteral use only.
Providing approximately 1.5 kcal/ml, Fortini Multi Fibre delivers concentrated energy and balanced nutrition in a 200 ml bottle format. Per 100 ml, it contains 153 kcal, 3.3 g protein, 18.8 g carbohydrate, 6.8 g fat, and 1.5 g fibre. Each 200 ml bottle provides 306 kcal, 6.6 g protein, 37.6 g carbohydrate, 13.6 g fat, and 3 g fibre.
Fibre Content
The formula includes a six-fibre Multi Fibre blend made from soy polysaccharide, cellulose, resistant starch, gum arabic, oligofructose, and inulin. Depending on flavour, the balance of soluble and insoluble fibre varies, with non-chocolate varieties typically containing about two-thirds soluble and one-third insoluble fibre, while chocolate is reported at approximately 60/40.
Composition and Suitability
Fortini Multi Fibre contains milk and soy, with very low lactose content of less than 0.025 g per 100 ml. It is not suitable for infants under 1 year, patients with galactosaemia, or those who require a fibre-free diet. Intakes above 4 bottles per day should be used with caution because of the fibre content.
Handling and Storage
Shake well before opening and serve chilled if preferred. The feed may also be frozen or gently heated, but should not be boiled. Store unopened between 5 and 25°C. Once opened, consume within 4 hours, or refrigerate and use within 24 hours. The shelf life is 12 months.
Technical Information
Technical values include an osmolarity of 440 mOsmol/L, osmolality of 570 mOsmol/kg H2O, and pH 6.8. Flavour availability may vary by market and can include vanilla, banana, chocolate, strawberry, and unflavoured options.
