Fortini Multi Fibre is a branded pediatric medical nutrition product from Nutricia, developed for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition and growth problems in children. It is a Food for Special Medical Purposes and should be used under medical supervision. This product is intended for children aged 1 year and over who weigh more than 8 kg, rather than for infants or adult use.

The most consistently matched Fortini Multi Fibre format is a ready-to-drink 200 ml sip feed providing 1.5 kcal per ml. It is nutritionally complete and contains protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Depending on clinical advice and the child’s needs, it may be used as a supplement to the diet, and some variants are also described as suitable as a sole or primary source of nutrition for children aged 1 to 6 years or weighing 8 to 20 kg.

Per 100 ml, the drink typically provides around 150 to 153 kcal, 3.3 to 3.4 g protein, 18.8 g carbohydrate, 6.8 g fat and 1.5 g fibre. Per 200 ml bottle, this is about 306 kcal, 6.6 g protein and 3 g fibre. The fibre is supplied from a mixed soluble and insoluble blend.

Features and suitability

Confirmed flavours include vanilla, strawberry, banana, chocolate and unflavoured. The drink variant is reported as gluten free and lactose free, and is generally described as Halal, Kosher and Vegetarian suitable. It contains milk and soy.

Important use information

Shake well before use and serve chilled if preferred. It may also be frozen or gently heated, but should not be boiled. Store between 5 and 25 C away from direct sunlight. Once opened, use within 4 hours, or refrigerate and use within 24 hours. It is not suitable for infants under 1 year, patients with galactosaemia, or those who require a fibre-free diet. Intakes above 4 bottles per day should be used with caution.
