Description
Mölnlycke Mepilex Ag 20 x 20 cm is a sterile antimicrobial foam wound dressing designed for low to moderately exuding acute and chronic wounds. This dressing combines an absorbent silver-containing foam pad with a Safetac soft silicone contact layer and a protective backing film.
It is intended for wounds that require antimicrobial action, including infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection or re-infection. Suitable applications include venous and other leg or foot ulcers, pressure ulcers or injuries, and partial-thickness burns. It may also be used under compression bandaging where clinically appropriate.

Wound Management Benefits
Mepilex Ag is designed to absorb exudate while maintaining a moist wound environment. It helps seal the wound edges, which may reduce leakage and lower the risk of maceration to surrounding skin. The soft, conformable construction allows the dressing to sit comfortably over difficult or uneven body contours.
Comfort and Antimicrobial Action
The Safetac contact layer is designed to adhere gently to intact surrounding skin without sticking to the moist wound bed. This helps minimise pain, trauma, and skin damage during dressing changes. The silver component is reported to begin inactivating wound-related pathogens within about 30 minutes and to provide sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 7 days. It may also help reduce wound odour.
Depending on wound condition and exudate level, the dressing may remain in place for several days, with a wear time of up to 7 days.
