Description

Nutrison Energy 500 ml OpTri bottle is a ready-to-use, nutritionally complete enteral tube feed formulated for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition and increased energy and protein requirements. This Food for Special Medical Purposes is designed for use under strict medical supervision and is intended for enteral use only.

With an energy density of 1.5 kcal/ml, this formula provides concentrated nutrition in a 500 ml bottle. Per 100 ml, it delivers 150 kcal, 6 g protein, approximately 18.3 g carbohydrate, and 5.8 g fat, with negligible or no fibre. Its fibre-free composition may be appropriate where a low-residue feed is required as determined by a healthcare professional.

Formula profile

Protein contributes about 16% of total energy and is supplied from a whey-predominant four-source blend of whey, casein, soy, and pea proteins. The fat blend includes sunflower oil, canola/rapeseed oil, medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), and fish oil, providing DHA and EPA. Added carotenoids are also included. Main ingredients include water, maltodextrin, whey protein concentrate, sodium caseinate, pea protein isolate, soy protein isolate, vegetable oils, fish oil, vitamins, and minerals.

Suitability and allergens

This product contains milk, soy, and fish-derived ingredients. It is gluten free, very low in lactose, and reported to contain less than 300 mg/kg lactose. It is also halal and kosher suitable.

Important precautions

This feed is for enteral use only and must not be used parenterally. It is not suitable for patients with galactosaemia or for infants under 1 year of age. Use with caution in children aged 1 to 6 years and in individuals with seafood allergy.

Handling and storage

Use at room temperature and shake well before use. Handle aseptically. Store unopened in a cool, dry place. After opening, refrigerate and discard any unused contents after 24 hours.
