Description
Nutrison Multi Fibre 500 ml is a ready-to-use enteral tube feed from Nutricia for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition in patients with a functioning gastrointestinal tract and normal energy requirements. It is designed for people who cannot meet their nutritional needs through normal eating and is suitable for enteral use only under medical supervision. When used in appropriate volumes, it can serve as a sole source of nutrition.
Each 500 ml bottle provides 515 kcal (2165 kJ), with 20.0 g protein, 61.5 g carbohydrate, 19.5 g fat, and 7.5 g fibre. The formulation also contains EPA and DHA, plus a full range of added vitamins and minerals. It is presented in an Optri bottle format and can connect directly to compatible Flocare giving sets.
Fibre and nutritional profile
This feed contains a 6-fibre blend of inulin, oligofructose, gum arabic, soy fibre, cellulose and resistant starch. The fibre profile is intended to support normal bowel function and includes 6.0 g soluble fibre and 1.5 g insoluble fibre per 500 ml.
The protein blend includes soy protein, pea protein isolate, sodium caseinate and whey protein. Fat sources include rapeseed oil, sunflower oil and fish oil. Technical characteristics include osmolarity of 270 mOsmol/L, osmolality of 330 mOsmol/kg H2O, and pH 7.3.
Indications and important restrictions
Nutrison Multi Fibre may be used in disease-related malnutrition and inadequate oral intake, including cases such as dysphagia, chewing or swallowing disorders, short bowel syndrome, intractable malabsorption, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel fistulae, total gastrectomy, and pre-operative support for undernourished patients.
It is intended for adults. Children over 3 years should only use it with caution and healthcare professional monitoring. It is not suitable for children under 3 years, galactosaemia, patients requiring a fibre-free diet, ingredient intolerance, or where enteral feeding is contraindicated. Allergens include milk, soy and fish.
Handling and storage
Shake well and inspect before use. Administer at room temperature. Do not dilute or mix with medications. In a closed system, hang time is up to 24 hours; in an open system, up to 8 hours. Store unopened at 5-25°C away from direct sunlight. Once opened, reclose, refrigerate, and use within 24 hours. Halal and Kosher suitable.
