Description

Nutrison Protein Plus 1000ml is a ready-to-use, high-protein, fibre-free enteral tube feed from Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition. It is a Food for Special Medical Purposes designed for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition and increased protein requirements. This formula is intended for enteral use only and must be used under medical supervision.

Providing 1.25 kcal per ml, each 1000 ml OpTri bottle supplies 1250 kcal and 63 g of protein. It also contains 142 g of carbohydrate and 49 g of fat, with less than 1 g of fibre. The formulation includes EPA and DHA from fish oil, along with a full vitamin and mineral profile, and is described as nutritionally complete, making it suitable as a sole source of nutrition when clinically appropriate.

Composition and features

The formula contains water, maltodextrin, vegetable oils, whey protein, milk caseinate, pea protein, soy protein and fish oil, with added vitamins and minerals. It is lactose-free, but contains milk, soy and fish.

Technical characteristics include an osmolarity of 275 mOsmol/L, osmolality of 340 mOsmol/kg H2O, viscosity of 25 mPa.s and pH 6.9.

Intended use

Nutrison Protein Plus may be used in the nutritional management of conditions such as short bowel syndrome, intractable malabsorption, inflammatory bowel disease, dysphagia, bowel fistulae, total gastrectomy and pre-operative preparation of undernourished patients.

Important information

This product is intended for adults. Use with caution in children aged 1 to 6 years and it is not suitable for infants. It is also not suitable for patients with galactosaemia.

Shake well before opening and use at room temperature. Do not exceed a hanging time of 24 hours. Store unopened in a cool, dry place between 5°C and 25°C. After opening, refrigerate and use or discard within 24 hours.
