Description

Nutrison Protein Plus is a ready-to-use, nutritionally complete enteral tube feed formulated for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition in people with moderate metabolic stress and increased protein requirements. It is designed for enteral use only and should be used under medical supervision. This product is presented in a 1000 mL OpTri screw-cap bottle and may be used as a sole source of nutrition when clinically appropriate.

Nutritional profile

Each 1000 mL bottle provides 1250 kcal, with an energy density of 1.25 kcal/mL. It supplies 63 g of protein, 142 g of carbohydrate, and 49 g of fat. The formula is very low in fibre, containing less than 1 g per 1000 mL, and includes 300 mg of EPA and 204 mg of DHA. Osmolality is 340 mOsmol/kg H2O.

Protein and ingredient composition

The protein blend is whey-dominant and includes casein, whey, soy, and pea proteins to support increased protein needs. Fat sources include sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, MCT oil, and fish oil. The formulation also contains carotenoids together with added vitamins and minerals to provide complete nutritional support.

Key ingredients include water, maltodextrin, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, MCT oil, whey protein, milk caseinate, pea protein, soy protein, fish oil, carotenoids, vitamins, and minerals.

Suitability and important notices

This product contains milk, soy, and fish. It is reported to contain very low lactose, with less than 0.25 g per 1000 mL, and no gluten-containing ingredients are reported. Halal certification is reported, and Kosher suitability or approval is also reported.

It is not for parenteral use and is not suitable for infants under 1 year of age or for patients with galactosaemia. Use with caution in children aged 1 to 6 years.

Handling and storage

Shake well before use and serve at room temperature. After opening, refrigerate and use or discard within 24 hours.
