Description
Nutrison Standard 500 ml is a ready-to-use, nutritionally complete enteral tube feed formulated for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition in adults with standard energy and fluid requirements. It provides 1 kcal per ml and may be used as a sole source of nutrition when taken under medical supervision.
This formula is supplied in a 500 ml plastic OpTri bottle and is intended for enteral use only. It contains no added fibre, with only trace fibre present, which may make it suitable for residue-restricted dietary requirements. The protein blend is whey-dominant and includes mixed protein sources, while the fat blend includes fish oil to provide DHA and EPA. Added carotenoids are also included.
Nutritional Information
Per 100 ml, Nutrison Standard provides 100 kcal, 4 g protein, 12.3 g carbohydrate, 3.9 g fat, and less than 0.1 g fibre. It also contains 85 ml water, 100 mg sodium, 150 mg potassium, 80 mg calcium, 72 mg phosphorus, and 125 mg chloride.
Per 500 ml bottle, it provides 500 kcal, 20 g protein, 62 g carbohydrate, 19.5 g fat, 0 g fibre when rounded, and 425 ml water.
Composition and Technical Details
Ingredients include water, maltodextrin, rice flour, vegetable oils (sunflower, rapeseed, MCT), whey protein, caseinate, pea protein, soy protein, fish oil, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Allergens present are milk, soy, and fish.
Technical values include an osmolarity of 270 mOsm/L and an osmolality of 320 mOsm/kg H2O.
Indications and Precautions
Listed indications include disease-related malnutrition, short bowel syndrome, intractable malabsorption, pre-operative preparation of undernourished patients, inflammatory bowel disease, total gastrectomy, dysphagia, and bowel fistulae.
It is not suitable for patients with galactosaemia or for children under 3 years. It is primarily intended for adults, and use in children over 3 years should occur only under healthcare professional supervision. Shake well before use, check appearance before administration, and use at room temperature. Handle aseptically, do not dilute, and do not add medications. Once opened, refrigerate and use or discard within 24 hours. Store unopened in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
