Description
Sorbact Absorption Dressing is a sterile, single‑use absorbent wound dressing designed for superficial wounds with moderate to high exudate. It combines a green Sorbact wound contact layer (DACC‑coated), an absorbent core, and a white backing. The dressing absorbs and retains exudate to help reduce maceration while supporting a moist wound environment. It is compatible with compression therapy and is MRI safe. Do not cut the dressing.
Mode of Action
- Non‑biocidal, hydrophobic binding: no release of antimicrobial agents into the wound.
- Microorganisms physically bind to the DACC‑coated green surface and are removed intact at dressing change.
- Effective against common wound pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA), Streptococcus species, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans.
Indications
- Management of clean, contaminated, colonized, or infected superficial wounds with moderate to high exudate.
- Suitable wound types include surgical and traumatic wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and venous/leg ulcers.
Contraindications
- No known contraindications.
- Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the dressing.
Warnings and Precautions
- Ensure the green contact layer is in direct contact with the entire wound surface.
- If adherence occurs, moisten or soak prior to removal to minimize trauma.
- Do not use fatty/greasy products (e.g., ointments or creams) in the wound bed; they can impair microorganism binding.
- Single use only; do not re‑use or re‑sterilize. Do not use if the sterile barrier/pouch is damaged. Do not cut the dressing.
- Remove before radiotherapy if in the radiation field; a new dressing may be applied after treatment.
- Requires appropriate fixation/secondary dressing.
- For superficial wounds only; not for cavity or undermined wounds.
Instructions for Use
- Prepare the wound per local clinical practice.
- Select a size so the wound pad overlaps wound margins by at least 2 cm.
- Using aseptic technique, remove from the pouch.
- Apply with the green side directly on the entire wound surface and secure with suitable fixation.
- Change frequency depends on exudate level and wound/skin condition; may be left in place for up to 7 days if clinically appropriate.
